PPM Certificate - Stepping Stone to PPM Diploma
19/20 September 2007, Project Challenge: TPG Academy, the leading training brand from The Projects Group plc (TPG), is now offering the newly launched Certificate level of the APMG and Chartered Management Institute's Diploma in Programme and Project Management (PPM Diploma). The company has become established as one of the leading providers for this prestigious qualification and held its first graduation ceremony for Diploma achievers in June this year. The Certificate level can now be used as a stepping stone to the bachelor degree level diploma.
"The Diploma qualification is extremely comprehensive and very challenging", explains TPG Managing Director Adrian Dooley. "Whilst achievement of the Diploma and Chartered Manager status will remain the ultimate goal for most candidates, it is highly appropriate and helpful that there is now an option to approach this in 2 stages."
As the PPM Certificate is an intermediate qualification, it is expected that candidates will already be working in a programme or project management environment. In common with the Diploma, the Certificate qualification includes a number of project and programme management techniques and methodologies, and covers material that can be extended into other qualifications, such as PRINCE2™. Likewise, several qualifications, including PRINCE2™, APMP, MSP and ISEB, provide partial exemption from some units of this qualification.

The Projects Group plc
The Projects Group's PPM Certificate and Diploma programme forms part of TPG Academy, the innovative training and support environment that represents 22 years of specialist project and programme management training and consultancy.
TPG Academy is totally unique, as all courses and qualification programmes are built from individual study topics, which can then be used again where further training or reaccreditation is required. Should a syllabus change, there is no danger of purchased material being out of date, as all topics are regularly updated online so that the very latest material is always to hand.
Whatever developments the future brings, knowledge can always be upgraded by 'topping up' achievements to date. Candidates studying for the PPM Certificate or Diploma can take advantage of the flexibility available from TPG's classroom, CD, online and paper learning formats and may also be eligible for exemptions from prior learning.
The PPM Diploma
The qualification was launched in 2003 by The APM Group (APMG) in partnership with the Chartered Management Institute. The Diploma is designed for Project and Programme Managers who wish to extend their skills and knowledge to embrace a number of programme and project management techniques, achieving a complete professional qualification that is their first step towards Chartered Manager status.
The Diploma consists of seven core units plus an integrative assessment, supported by two additional units for Project Management and two additional units for Programme Management. It is based on extensive research into existing bodies of knowledge on programme and project management and other qualifications, to produce a benchmark qualification for any individual serious about developing their ability as a Programme and Project Manager. Further information about the diploma is available at www.ppmdiploma.com.
