The German PRINCE2 Day supports the sharing of experiences between users and interested parties of the international de-facto standard for project management - PRINCE2. Since 2005 the event has taken place in Germany every year, and also in countries like Spain, France and Italy. Participants enjoy the expert speeches, case studies, practical experience reports, workshops and project management tool presentations which are on offer.
High profile speakers included Andy Murray, Lead Author for the new PRINCE2 manual expected in 2009. Andy is winner of the Best Management Practice Partnership Honorary Award. He discussed about the PRINCE2: 2009 Project. He informed the participants about the planned innovations within PRINCE2. Andy announced the implementation of seven principles for future project work and a multi-media knowledge centre with templates, organisational charts, check lists and case studies for the daily work of PRINCE2 users.
Topic of the PRINCE2 Day 2008: Implementing PRINCE2
Martin Rother, Managing Director of QRP, the first German PRINCE2-trainer and President of the German PRINCE2 user group, gave a lecture on the basic steps for successful implementation of PRINCE2 in organisations. "If you pay early attention to the fundamental steps for implementation activities, your organisation will generate more quick wins and become more successful in managing projects from the beginning,", Martin said.
Award ceremony sponsored by PRINCE2 user group Germany
During the PRINCE2 Day the German PRINCE2 user group (PRINCE2 Deutschland e.V.) assigned the first best practice PRINCE2 Award for excellent performance in professional project management with PRINCE2.
Surprisingly the jury decided to award two winners: The Paul Hartmann Group for the project "Implementation of project quality management" and the ROLAND Rechtsschutz-Versicherungs-AG for the project "Implementing ICS". Heiko Nass, member of the board, handed over the award and a coupon for a project management workshop "The Challenge of Egypt" sponsored by QRP Germany.
The judges said Paul Hartmann Group was entitled to the award because of their exemplary implementation of PRINCE2 and a demonstrable success in project management through the implementation.
ROLAND Rechtsschutz-Versicherungs-AG was awarded because of the very sensitive but sustainable implementation of PRINCE2 and its principles within the whole organisation while considering the organisation's existing corporate culture.
