APM Group and DSDM Consortium join forces to deliver innovative Agile Project Management Certification

High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK, 20 September 2010... Richard Pharro, CEO, The APM Group, and Mary Henson, CEO, DSDM Consortium, have signed a long term agreement which sees the organisations working together to deliver certifications in Agile Project Management.

The new Agile Project Management certification scheme features a Foundation and Practitioner qualification. Examinations will be made available to candidates from November 2010. The release of the certification scheme will coincide with the publication of a new handbook 'Agile Project Management'.

Richard Pharro, APMG, said: "We live in a time when change is faster and evermore prevalent. People need to respond with immediacy, flexibility and certainty regarding the delivery of projects. We are delighted to bring a specific Agile Project Management training course and qualification to the market as it demonstrates a clear linkage between agility and governance. The Agile approach can be applied to projects regardless of scale or discipline. Agile Project Management shows Project Sponsors they can adopt Agile with confidence, and provide focus to the entire project team."

Mary Henson, DSDM Consortium said: "At DSDM we have always recognised the need for effective Project Management to provide governance to iterative development projects, including those applying Agile practices. The Agile Project Management Certification is a major step forward for both the Project Management and the Agile Communities as it provides the means to deliver Agile Projects in organisations requiring standards, rigour and visibility around projects, while at the same time enabling the fast pace, change and empowerment provided by Agile."

Richard Pharro will be presenting at the Agile Business Conference with the qualification's developer Barbara Roberts from the DSDM Consortium.

The Agile Business Conference takes place at the Inmarsat Conference Centre in London on October 5th and 6th and provides delegates with a comprehensive overview of the realities of Agile at both organisational and project level.

The Agile Project Management Handbook is available from the APMG-Business Books website.
